IoT & DIY app — making hardware setup feel effortless.

As part of the product there was an IoT component that needed a physical connection to the beer pipes. The ordering process ran through the product itself, when a customer wanted to save and utilize the beer poured every day. My focus: an installation experience simple enough for non-technical users.

Prototyping the whole install flow

To learn about the installation process and get early feedback, we created a dynamic mobile prototype that illustrates the entire installation. This let us improve and fix the flow, then hand it to development as a more finished product after validating with users.

We know most of our clients aren't tech-savvy, so we wanted a process that's easy to use and install. We added illustrations and animations to simplify the process and make it friendlier.

Live user testing with our prototype

We ran live testing sessions with our interactive prototype, watching real users move through the installation to catch friction before development.

An all-in-one kit that just works

To simplify installation, we created an all-in-one hardware kit with clear instructions. The challenge was finding packaging that could securely hold multiple small, delicate components.

After sourcing and testing suppliers, we landed on the right fit — customizing the design to ensure a smooth, user-friendly setup. Once installed, users immediately begin seeing real-time data on beer levels and revenue impact.
